The Thirty-Nine Lessons: story of a recovery
by Number 6

A bad start...
Dr. Chu Tsao has been the person in charge of supervising the Scientific Research Dept. of the secret organization known as "The Eastern Spectre" and led by Basam Damdu, the so-called "Emperor of the UnderWorld".
Everything went quite well for years in this realm of evil... Chu Tsao's job was well paid and quite interesting.
Alas! Good times always have an end, and it came abruptly for our beloved doctor... a sinister story of power, envies and treason... wrongly condamned, Chu Tsao was sentenced to death but finally escaped safely from Basam Damdu's HQs, thanks to the cleverness of his mind.

Chance or Fate?
At that particular time, the Doc's only way to stay alive was to run further and further into the deep, moist asian jungle.
After weeks of wander, he reached very ancient and cyclopean ruins - lost and forgotten by mankind for centuries... remembering the old legends, Chu-Tsao quickly realized where chance - or fate - had just led him: these were the ruins of the mythical Temple of the Seven Twilights!

39 engraved stones.
So this was the Temple... according to a now-heathen mythology, Ancient Gods, whose names are forgotten since aeons, told Man at the beginning of his history to build the Temple. Then, the Gods came on earth and gave thirty-nine engraved stones to the Mortals - urging them to keep them in the Temple, safe and hidden from the future madness of mankind.
The Thirty-Nine Lessons of Wisdom are written on these stones - written by the hands of Gods...
If the whole story was true - and the magnificent ruins surrounding him left no doubt: it had to be true - he, Chu Tsao, was about to make the most important archeological discovery of the millenium!

Monthes later...
When the Doc reached Tikimatic HQs - where he still hides from Basam Damdu nowadays - we first thought he was insane: he was hardly able to speak, feverish and thrilled, freaked out, stammering nonsenses about ancient gods: that scum couldn't be the famous Chu Tsao.

I went back to the cyclopean Temple with the Doc, I've seen the Stones and the Writings on them: these are not human - they just can't - and I still feel the Cold I felt when I layed my eyes upon the Statues of the Seven Ancient Gods: no human mind can imagine such creatures, no human hand would be able to carve such horror.
